Chef for Embassy residence in Pretoria. We are looking for a professionally qualified chef who is interested in promoting Finnish food culture in South Africa. Events range from working breakfasts, lunches, dinners and cocktail events. Based at the Embassy residence in Pretoria.
The main tasks will include:
- Menu planning and budgeting.
- Buying of ingredients.
- Preparation of meals at official events and the Ambassador’s residence.
- Decoration and table setting for events
- Daily maintenance tasks in the kitchen and residence
- Food and Beverage procurement
- All meal preparation (requires the ability to produce a wide variety of dishes.)
The preferred candidate will have professional chefs training, experience in 5 star establishments as well as the ability to prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes. Preferably some knowledge of Finnish cuisine and food culture. Proficiency in English is necessary as the position includes liaison with guests and Ambassadors of various countries. A drivers license and own vehicle are essential as there will be shopping and some travelling required.
Initiative, willingness to learn, team player, service minded with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Salary dependent on experience. All applications to be submitted by 10th May 2021. There will be an interview process, a cooking trail and, if successful, a 3 month probationary period.
